Statement of Issue:
The Public Works Department requests that City Council adopt a resolution to summarily vacate a public water line easement within private property located at 14900 Bolsa Chica Street, pursuant to Division 9, Part 3, Chapter 4 of the California Streets and Highways Code.

Recommended Action:

A) Adopt Resolution No. 2020-05, "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach Ordering the Summary Vacation of a Public Water Line Easement on Property Located at 14900 Bolsa Chica Street;" and,

B) Instruct the City Clerk to record Resolution No. 2020-05 (and attachments) with the Orange County Recorder.

Analysis:
Sares Regis Group recently purchased several parcels located at 14900 Bolsa Chica Street within the Boeing Space Systems campus. The previous owners, Boeing Realty and McDonnell Douglas Corporation, had dedicated public water line easements to the City of Huntington Beach with Parcel Maps No. 87-424 and No. 97-198. The City had been using the easements to maintain/repair public water lines, fire hydrants and water meter assemblies located within the premises. With the proposed new construction of the site for commercial development purposes, the Sares Regis Group no longer needs the existing public water system and recently abandoned it.
The abandoned water system was located within private property and only served customers at 14900 Bolsa Chica. There are no other public facilities located within this existing water easement. The developer will be relocating all fire hydrants and wat...
