Analysis:

The Huntington Beach Human Relations Committee (HBHRC) is a nine (9) member advisory board to the City Council with a mission to “inspire and promote mutual understanding, respect, safety, and the wellbeing of all in our community through education and engagement.”  Currently, there is one unscheduled vacancy on the Committee, due to the resignation of Committee Member Antonio Benitez.

The City advertised the vacancy through the following means: postings on the City's website and facilities.  16 eligible applications were reviewed and considered for appointment.

After deliberation, both City Council Liaisons recommend Iliana Velazquez to fill the vacancy, which is scheduled to end on December 31, 2025.
