end
Alternative Action(s):
Deny approval and recommend an alternative action.
Analysis:
Many of our street intersections and crossings lack the curb access ramps necessary to comply with The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The project consists of installing ADA compliant curb ramps at approximately 250 locations. The proposed ramps are within residential Zone 5, which is bounded by Yorktown Avenue to the north, Beach Boulevard to the east, and Pacific Coast Highway to the south and west. The ramps are located at intersection sidewalks adjacent to the upcoming pavement overlay within Zone 5. The engineer’s estimate for this project is approximately $700,000 which is based on $2,800 per curb ramp location.
