Statement of Issue:

City Council is requested to approve a three-year contract with Waymakers, in the amount of $109,790, for the management of the Victim and Witness Assistance Services.

 

Financial Impact:

Funds for this program are provided by a grant from the California Office of Emergency Services.  This is an ongoing grant awarded to the HBPD for the last 22 years.  The application for the 2021 grant is currently in process.  If the grant is not awarded, although highly unlikely, staff will secure funding from other sources.

Approve and authorize the “Professional Services Contract Between the City of Huntington Beach and Waymakers for Victim and Witness Assistance Services.”

Alternative Action(s):

Do not approve the contract and direct staff accordingly.

 

Analysis:

Since 1998, the Huntington Beach Police Department has contracted with Waymakers, formerly CSP, for victims’ advocacy programs. 

The Waymakers victims’ advocacy program provides comprehensive services to crime victims, especially victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.  The programs support the victims throughout the entire criminal justice process.
