MEETING MINUTES AND ACTION ITEMS:  November 20, 2019

Call to Order/Roll Call

The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m.

 

Public Comments (Open to the Public)

 

Mark Sheldon  - spoke about the purpose and activities of the Environmental Board.  Thanked everyone for their service.

 

John Scandura - welcomed everyone to the Board.  Spoke about giving the City Council honest feedback, importance of attending meetings, and getting involved. 

 

Each Board member introduced themselves and gave brief information about themselves.

Approval of Minutes -

                     Approval of June 19, 2019 Minutes, moved by Claud-Clemente, second by Benneman.

Motion carried 3-0,

                     Fockler discussed that the Huntington Beach Union High School District STEAM Fair (March 2020) is on Sustainability.  They also have an art contest.  Would the Board be interested in teaming with this event?

Environmental Board Comments

 

                     Speakers for meetings - No more than one speaker for time limit of 20 minutes.

                     Tess will send information on Brown Act requirements.

                     Tony spoke about projects the team has worked on to give new members background on what the committee has completed and types of work we do.  e.g. EIRs, field trips, committee activities, speakers.

                     Tess spoke about the logistics of distribution of documents to the board.

                     All EIRs are available on the City website.

                     Tess will send out a Board Member Contact list.

                     Kathleen asked if Environmental Board would review the study the City council commissioned for a consultant to study Community Choice Aggregation.
