Statement of Issue:
The Main Street Branch Library has been operating since 1951. To recognize its 75 years of service, staff recommend installation of a commemorative bronze plaque honoring the branch’s legacy.
Financial Impact:
Funding for the plaque is contained within the Library General Fund 10050101 to cover cost of design, fabrication and installation of $2,200.

Analysis:
The Main Street Branch Library (Library) opened on September 30, 1951, and has served as a vital community resource for 75 years, supporting literacy, creativity, cultural engagement, and multi-generational connection. A celebration will be planned for September 30, 2026, to honor the Library’s 75th anniversary and celebrate the grand opening of Huntington Beach’s Cultural Hub at Triangle Park.
To honor the Library’s historic role, staff are proposing the installation of a commemorative plaque on the interior of the building with the following features:
