Statement of Issue:

It is necessary to select three members of the City Council to serve on an ad-hoc committee that was formed to review the work product of the Charter Revision Committee; recommend to the full City Council any potential Charter amendments that should be presented to the voters on the November 8, 2022 ballot; and coordinate the creation of any necessary ballot materials.

Analysis:

At their regular meeting of May 17, 2022, the City Council approved the formation of a Charter Review Ballot Measure Ad Hoc Committee tasked with reviewing the work product and recommendations made by the Charter Review Committee; recommending to the full City Council on the proposed Charter amendments that should be presented to the voters on the November 8, 2022 ballot; and coordinating the creation of any necessary ballot measure arguments.

 

The Charter Revision Committee (ad-hoc) was formed in 2021 to conduct a systematic review of the City Charter and recommend revisions for the City Council's consideration.  The Committee has met a total of eleven times, and at their meeting of May 12, 2022, finalized recommendations for presentation to City Council.
