Statement of Issue:

To honor his legacy and memorialize his life, the City of Huntington Beach will establish an annual Kolby Aipa Day.

Analysis:

Our Huntington Beach surf community has been mourning Kolby Aipa since his untimely passing in early August. Known for his kindness - Kolby was a beloved member of the community, a graduate of Huntington Beach High School, renowned surfer, and a member of the Huntington Beach Board Riders Club. Kolby was inducted posthumously into the Surfers’ Hall of Fame on September 18, 2025. On September 20, 2025, the community honored his life with a paddle out on the north side of the pier.

 

To honor his legacy and memorialize his life, the City of Huntington will establish September 18 as Kolby Aipa Day.

Pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15378(b)(5), administrative activities of governments that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes in the environment do not constitute a project.
