Statement of Issue:
The Huntington Beach Police Department has been awarded $82,080 through the FY26/27 Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program (CTFGP) Award #30846 administered by the California Highway Patrol. The funding will support DUI enforcement and officer training initiatives aimed at reducing impaired driving incidents, particularly those related to cannabis and other drug use. CHP requires a resolution specific to the current fiscal year to execute the agreement and release funds. Staff are seeking Council approval to accept the funds, adopt the resolution, and appropriate the grant amount.
Financial Impact:
The $82,080 grant is fully reimbursable and will be used between July 1, 2026, and June 30, 2027. There is no impact on the General Fund. Grant revenues will be appropriated into a dedicated account for tracking and reporting purposes.
