Revisions to the Fire Engineer Job Class Specification

Statement of Issue:
The Fire Engineer classification is assigned to the Fire Department at the City and is represented by the Huntington Beach Firefighters' Association (HBFA). Modifications to the class specification are requested in accordance with Personnel Rule 12 regarding amendments to the City's Classification Plan.

Alternative Action(s):
Do not approve the updates to the job class specification and direct staff accordingly.
Analysis:
Modifications to the Fire Engineer job class specification are recommended to: 1) update to include supervision received language; 2) updates to the "Education and Experience" sections; 3) update to the license/certification requirement; and 4) update to include "Special Conditions" language.
The Fire Department collaborated with Human Resources on the recommended changes, and HBFA has reviewed the proposed changes.
