Statement of Issue:
Approximately 60 parkway trees (?10%) must be removed and replaced to facilitate concrete and drainage improvements as part of the Zone 3 Residential Overlay and Slurry Seal Project. The removals are necessary to address infrastructure damage caused by tree roots and to ensure proper drainage and improve paths of travel for pedestrians.

Financial Impact:
The total project cost is estimated at $60,000 and will be included in the Public Works Department's Capital Improvement Program budget for the Zone 3 Residential Overlay and Slurry Seal Project.

Analysis:
This report is submitted to provide justification for the removal of approximately 60 parkway trees (?10%) and subsequent replanting within Maintenance Zone 9.

The Pavement Management Plan divides the City into 12 maintenance zones, numbered 1 through 12. Zone 3 is scheduled for improvements in Fiscal Year 2025/26. This will mark the second maintenance cycle through these zones.

The Zone 3 Residential Overlay and Slurry Seal Project includes approximately 8 miles of pavement overlay and 8.5 miles of slurry seal.
