Statement of Issue:
There is a need to standardize policy governing flagpole height and corresponding flag size within parks and facilities under the purview of the Community & Library Services Department. Establishing a consistent standard is necessary to ensure uniformity, visual compatibility, and appropriate scale across the park system.
Financial Impact:
There is no fiscal impact to the City associated with the approval of a standardized flag and flagpole policy.

Approve a standardized flag and flagpole policy for City parks and Community & Library Services facilities, establishing a maximum flag size of 5 feet by 8 feet and a maximum flagpole height of 30 feet.

Analysis:
Over the past several years, the City has experienced an increase in requests to install flagpoles within parks, and interest in additional flagpoles throughout the park system continues. To ensure consistency, public safety, and compatibility, particularly within neighborhood park settings, staff recommends the adoption of a standardized flag and flagpole policy.
Flagpoles installed within City parks and Community & Library Services facilities shall be limited to a maximum height of thirty (30) feet, with accompanying flags not to exceed five (5) feet by eight (8) feet.
