Statement of Issue:
On September 19, 2023, the City Council approved entering into Cooperative Agreement No. C-3-2654, between the City of Huntington Beach and the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) to facilitate the administration, permitting, staffing, and construction of the I-405 Freeway Improvement Project, as well as to provide a mechanism to reimburse the City for expenses incurred as a result of the Project. The current agreement requires an amendment to allow the City to obtain additional reimbursement for pavement damage caused by the project, and to modify the clause extending the deadline to approve an updated Freeway Maintenance Agreement with Caltrans to December 31, 2025.
Financial Impact:
Execution of the amendment will allow the City of Huntington Beach to receive a total reimbursement for pavement impacts of $1,331,000. These funds are in addition to the funds already received for pavement impacts totaling $682,737 in 2019. Funds will be deposited into Fund 125400254.46450.
