Review and recommendation to approve the June 2024 HB in Motion: Huntington Beach Mobility Implementation Plan

Statement of Issue:
Staff along with our consulting team led by Sam Schwartz Consulting has recently completed the preparation of HB in Motion: Huntington Beach Mobility Plan (Mobility Plan). To support the use of this document by staff in developing improvement projects and to seek outside funding, staff is requesting that the Public Works Commission provide a recommendation to the City Council to approve the Mobility Plan.

Financial Impact:
Approval of the plan will not result in any direct expenditures outside of normal operating and capital improvement program efforts. However, having an approved Mobility Plan may help to support future applications for grant and other outside funding in programs that specifically target comprehensive transportation improvements that benefit a wide range of users.

Analysis:
Over the past 3 years, staff and the consulting team led by Sam Schwartz have completed an extensive effort to evaluate the current conditions of the transportation systems within the City of Huntington Beach and identify strategies that will help to better serve the mobility needs of residents, visitors, and emergency services throughout the City.
