Statement of Issue:
On May 7, 2026, bids were received for the construction of street lighting modifications on Orange Avenue from 11th Street to 18th Street, 12th Street from Pacific Coast Highway to Orange Avenue, Walnut Avenue from 11th Street to 17th Street and on 13th Street from Pacific Coast Highway to Palm Avenue. City Council action is requested to award the construction contract to Asplundh Construction, LLC, the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
Financial Impact:
The engineer's cost estimate for this project is $1,760,000, including contract administration, construction contingency and fees assessed by Southern California Edison. Funds for the project in the amount of $1,760,000 are budgeted in the Infrastructure Fund, Account 31440039.82800.
Recommended Action:

A) Accept the lowest responsive and responsible bid submitted by Asplundh Construction, LLC, in the amount of $1,389,738.46; and,
B) Authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a construction contract in a form approved by the City Attorney; and,
C) Authorize the Director of Public Works to execute change orders not to exceed a total of 10 percent of the contract construction costs.
