Analysis:
During king tide events, seawater flows back into the storm drain system, causing localized flooding. The existing flap and duckbill valves are no longer effective. This project consists of installing new in-line tide check valves at seven locations and removing outdated flap and duckbill gate valves. The purpose is to help reduce flooding during king tides by preventing tidal water from backing up into the storm drain system. All check valves will be installed within the existing storm drain infrastructure with minimal impact to the system.
