18-666 1.Informational ItemCentral Park Current Project Updates - Staff will provide updates on current and approved pending projects, including Public Works maintenance activity and proposed Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) for Fiscal Year 2019/20. · Bacon provided an update on CIP projects: o Pump rebuilt in the 2017/18 CIP will continue with two additional pumps built during the 2018/19 budget. o The 2018/19 CIP budget will include: § Continued tree trimming § Lake Embankment project - it is out of design and will know the bid and construction timelines soon. § Trash receptacles - Currently reviewing products/equipment, services and costs. Public Works staff will provide a sample at a future meeting. § Pathways, and an elevated deck path · Review of the 2018/2019 CIP will be agendized for the next HCP meeting and action taken. · Discussion continued on the approval process.   Not available Not available
18-667 2.Informational ItemPassive Areas in Regards to Maintenance - Staff will provide an overview of the passive areas in Huntington Central Park and how they are maintained. · Jean Nagy provided an overview of passive areas on an overhead map. Bacon said that the areas marked as “E” and “L” on the map will be accessed monthly to determine maintenance needs. Discussion moved to the meaning of “access”. · Discussion also included the issue of mowing and the high of the blade adjustment in order to eliminate the cutting of tree roots. Bacon responded that the landscape maintenance contract is going out to bid and will be awarded in approximately 30-45 days. · The discussion moved to removal of items and debris from homeless individuals or encampments left in the park. Community members were instructed to contact the Police Department whenever they see such situations as there is protocol for removing the items.   Not available Not available
19-002 3.Informational ItemCentral Park Groundwater - Brian Ragland, Public Works, will update the Committee on the groundwater conditions in Huntington Central Park and the surrounding area. · Public Works provided a quarterly update on the surface water and selected grown water levels near Huntington Central Park. A berm was created at Talbert Lake. Shari Engel commented that the berm has been beneficial to park visitors to the Secret Garden, the Park Bench Café and other areas of the park.
