body

Statement of Issue:

The Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) is hosting a rebate program through its Turf Removal Program and the City is taking advantage of this rebate so the City is more water conscious.

The City will receive about $80,000 in rebates simply by removing 19,000 square feet of non-functional turf within the medians along Goldenwest St between Olive and Yorktown Ave.  The project will plant new groundcover consisting of daylilies, Kurapia, and mulch. Approximately 18 existing trees will be replaced with 40 Crape Myrtle trees and 40 Arbutus Unedo trees, which move the city further along to achieving their water conservation goals.

The Goldenwest Median Turf Replacement project has a total cost $200,000, and a total rebate credit of $80,000.  Construction would start April 3rd, 2023 with a duration of 8-12 weeks.
