title
McCallen Park Stormwater Improvements, CC-1588
body
Statement of Issue:
Plans and Specifications for the McCallen Park Stormwater Improvements Project, CC-1588, are in final preparation. A grant for this project was awarded after approval of the FY 2018/19 Capital Improvement Budget. Therefore City Council will be asked to appropriate funding at the time of award of a construction contract.
Funding Source:
A $500,000 grant is available from OCTA. The local match requirement of $125,000 is available from the Drainage Fund.
Recommended Action:
recommendation
Motion to include the McCallen Park Stormwater Improvements Project, CC-1588, in the FY 18/19 Capital Improvement Program.
end
Alternative Action(s):
Deny approval and recommend an alternative action.
Analysis:
The project proposes the installation of a trash removal device at McCallen Park, located under the existing parking lot. The proposed continuous deflection separator (CDS) unit will intercept trash from a 93” storm drain mainline that runs along Delaware Street. This storm drain conveys storm flows and urban runoff from a 382 acre watershed. Delaware Street is a heavily traveled street with impacted parking and underground utilities, so constructing the CDS unit in the City’s adjacent parking lot facilitates safe access for maintenance and inspection.
